6 Budget Friendly Valentine’s Day Date Ideas

Love the idea of Valentine’s Day but not the overpriced gifts and expectations you see in the media? Or maybe you just don’t have it in the budget to go “all out.” Now, I love a fancy dinner and bouquets of flowers like most girls, but I also like the intimate and thoughtful gifts too, and admittedly, so does my bank account. So here are 5 Budget Friendly Valentine’s Day Ideas that won’t break the bank but will definitely break the heart, in a good way! Apologies for the silly tagline, I just had to!

Bike Ride through the park & Picnic

If you’ve got time during the day or plan to celebrate over the weekend this would be a perfect day date. Look around your area and find a park that you could ride bikes in, or even ride your bikes to and enjoy a picnic lunch or even dinner. And don’t worry if you don’t even own a bike, there are plenty of new businesses that have bike rentals by the hour.

Hand-made cards & hand-picked flowers

I feel like a hand-made cards and hand-picked flowers are often overlooked. I don’t know about you but I love the sentiment behind a card that was specially made for me and flowers that were hand picked by someone who loves me. I honestly prefer the look of wild flowers over a bouquet of roses. So, if there are any guys reading this, girls like this kind of stuff. Make us feel loved and special. Knowing that someone was thinking about you during the day and took the time to make something for you is one of the sweetest feelings!

Movie night with all your favorite snacks

So the weather didn’t turn out the way you thought it would, or maybe it did and this is what you had planned all along! Enjoy a cozy Valentine’s Day evening in, watching your favorite movie, or a new one paired with all your favorite snacks & drinks. Grab blanket and snuggle up on the couch!

Watch the sunset with home-made dinner.

Or even the sunrise with a home-made breakfast. But if you’ve got a little extra moolah, go to a fun little cafe near you for an early morning breakfast! There’s something nice about waking up when it’s quiet out and going out somewhere to watch the sunrise.

Ice Skating & Dessert

Ice skating is such a fun activity to do and a great way to make fun of each other. Queue all the crazy legs and falling. Even if you live in Hawaii of all places, you can still go ice skating! At least if you’re on Oahu. And after all that fun, head out for some dessert. I personally like to get Hot Fudge Sundays from McDonalds plus, they’re only $1 or, again, if you’re in Hawaii somewhere around $2. Lucky we live Hawaii!

Board Games/“Get to know you” Quizzes & Desserts

This is one of my husband and I’s favorite thing to do on date nights, or even late nights when the girls are asleep. We’ll look up “Get to know your spouse quizzes” and others along those lines. They’re so fun to do and often times have questions you never really thought to ask. And as always, bring some desserts and/or your favorite drinks to enjoy!
